Muummm, I am a frites and mayo fan, adding the Belgian touch of capers and anchovies to me is just fine. Here is a pretty cool site devoted to the subject.

I'll put my Belgian frites up against your French frites any day of the week. Good Belgian frites sauce beats the heck out of any condiment I have ever been presented with in France (regarding fried potatoes). The French focus more on "higher art" and the Belgians deliver lowly food to the average stomach. As long as good mussels qualify as lowly food. Unless you have fully appreciated the irony, bite me.

Mmm...croissants, frites with mayo, delicious cheeses. This post has accomplished the dual task of making me both very hungry and making me desperately want to go back to Paris. It's very early here, but I could still go for a kir royale.
