Thanks for the great food blogs. I'm getting hungry just reading them - thanks! (not, since one resolution is to lose weight)

My food resolution for 2009 would be to have more meals with friends. I love having girlfriend/neighbor Anne over for dinner, or going to Penny/Tims like we did on Christmas day. There is just something wonderful about having a meal with wonderful friends. Makes everything taste better and makes the meal memorable.

Thanks for the culinary inspiration! Have a superb 2009!

To Alexandra:
I have a big binder with those clear, drop-in page protectors that I use as my kitchen bible and I love it! I drop all of the manuals for all of my kitchen do-dads and appliances in the back and I drop recipes I print from the internet in the front pages. Since the pages are all under plastic they are safe from slashes and they are easy to remove when I need to add a note. I have used this binder for about three years now, so i am thinking about breaking it up into a savory binder and a sweet one since the original has run out of space!

I am with you on the cook more often thing. I want to teach the kiddos better habits than the ones I have been teaching them. I have already given up soda, but that has been happening slowly due to my shifting tastes (damn you french press!) for a while. I have decided if I don't know the leaf, bean or source of my fluid - I am not drinking it.

Thanks for the comment - on Christmas day, just as we were sitting down to dinner, Oma dislocated and broke her ankle getting my baby girl milk. She was stepping over a doggie gate and fell. She had surgery the day after Christmas and is now at home recovering. It was traumatic but all parties are recovering. I just couldn't write about it because I saw it in my head every time I tried. That is getting better now ;)

I have two.

One is to eat a whole lot less food in the pizza/chinese/Quiznos category. We only do this once or twice a week, but it adds up. Let's say $10 times 2 people (my boyfriend and I) times 2 per week times 4 weeks is $160 a month. Which is crazy. We could go to a really nice restaurant for that kind of money. In fact, we could probably go TWICE. And that's kind of the sub clause to resolution number one: Go to the same places less. There are some really great spots in my neighborhood, but there are some INCREDIBLE spots in this city that I've yet to discover, and I'm not going to be here forever (and they might not be, either).

Resolution two is much shorter: create a recipe book/binder featuring stuff I've tried and love. It'll make planning my grocery shopping much easier. I've been using my computer for that kind of thing, but it just isn't working for me (also, I don't really want to bring my laptop into the kitchen with me; I already destroyed one that way).

One of mine is somewhat food-related, but laughingly boring:>)...drinking more water.
And reading you frequently to try out new places to eat. Maybe we can make it out of Clifton.

Happy 2009! One of mine is to write more. I cook and eat, often- sometimes too much, but have decided to write more. Let's hope we both keep our resolutions.
