That was quick– Jared Whalen named Chef at L’Auberge

by julie on August 15, 2009

News is always happening, right?

From an “anonymous source”:

It is with tremendous enthusiasm and adulation that
L’Auberge announces the arrival of Executive Chef Jared Whalen.

Chef Whalen a native of Ohio is a graduate of The New England Culinary Institute. He honed his skills in such grand restaurants as; The Boulders in Scottsdale Arizona, The Mobile 5 Star Maisonette, Jean Robert at Pigall’s, Pho Paris and Chalk Food & Wine in Cincinnati.

Overthe coming weeks, L’Auberge and Chef Whalen will begin unveiling new menus and ideas for the culinary future of L’Auberge.

Please welcome Chef Whalen to L’Auberge and to Dayton.

That’s fantastic! A great new addition to my hometown’s legendary restaurant. Jared is an amazing chef and it’s cool I can say I got to work with him for at least a little while. Cheers Jared! Thanks for the news Julie!

Since you Chef is so Great …what you think about being the Chef in two restaurants that Closed!!!!GOOD LUCK.

Well let’s hope that Whalen’s cuisine is better at L’Auberge than it was at Chalk.

I’m willing to bet that there were economics involved here. Romy came with a high price tag, and Whalen will work for chicken feed-as proven by what Martin Wade was paying him. L’Auberge’s business is down drastically, as is the case with so many high end restaurants in this recession. Plus Dayton has been hit particularly hard with NCR moving out of the region. With all things considered this is no surprise at all, particularly since Romy’s best days as a chef are behind him.

I can’t wait for a visit to L’Auberge for the new menu.

Instead of making the Chefs look BAD you should check L’Auberge history when it comes to there CHEFS!!!!A many Chefs that L’Auberge ad in 10 years?

Why the affected mystery with “anonymous source”? It was proudly announced on L’Auberge website a full day before your post. In fact, it was cut & pasted from the website, including the lack of space between the words “Overthe…” – see below)

Honestly, you should have said “L’Auberge announces…”, or “From the L’Auberge website…”

Will you be forthcoming and post this?

At the time, it was from an anonymous source, who forwarded it to me while I was out of town. No “affected mystery”, but someone who sent it to me who wanted to be anonymous.

Thank you, however, for the constructive criticism.
