Well, the confusion should have been expected. When you order an absinthe cocktail, it's not only generally unheard of, but the request comes off as pretentious.

My bet is he recently watched that Benjamin Button movie.

Ahh, the power of wikipedia . . .

Oh, and I'm looking forward to trying out the cafe next weekend.

My boyfriend and I went to Brown Dog Cafe last night as well for restaurant week. We just moved to Cincinnati about 6 months ago, so it was our first time. He ordered a sazerac and then went on to order his meal (including the popcorn salad). Apparently the waitress didn't know what a sazerac was, which threw her off, and she brought him the wrong salad. He let her know that he ordered the popcorn salad, and she told him that she apologized and told him that the drink order threw her off and that no one else had heard of it either. I wondered if she was ever going to say anything (and bring me my glass of wine!) since they had already served us bread and our salads. So he explained how to make it and we finally got our drinks and he got the correct salad. I also ordered the scallops and thought they were a little overcooked, but good. The sauce on the gnocchi was creamier than I expected since the description said browned butter, and was a bit salty, but good. He ordered the caffinated boar, which he really liked, but there wasnt't enough meat. The desserts were delicious. I got the pistachio creme brulee and he order the pot de creme. All in all, a good meal, but with a somewhat clueless waitress.
