Upgrade: Disqus Commenting

by julie on October 3, 2009

Hi, All!

I’m hoping this doesn’t discourage commenting from legitimate commenters, but I’ve installed Disqus, which is a simple commenting tool. You have to create a login (or you can Facebook Connect, which is pretty simple!) to post a comment, but it should make things more organized and easier to read, along with discouraging commenters who are hiding behind anonymity. You can also flag comments for moderation (sort of like on the Enquirer’s site).  I’m still playing around with it but I think it’ll be a good move.

Let me know what you think!

Pretty cool app. Works great on Firefox, but I noticed a few JavaScript errors when running IE 8 and I was unable to post using that browser (it kept prompting me to log in over and over again, without posting).

Most impressive is the fact that it imported all your old comments!

BTW, here are the JS errors if you want to send those on to the Disqus developers:

Just registered on Disqus, which I think zapped the comment I'd typed.

Anyway, here's my attempt to post a comment here (as per your Twitter request) using MSIE8.

    Hoping this works!

Hello. If someone has a genuine comment to make then they shouldn't mind everyone knowing who they are. I can understand annonymous in certain situations however, when you can remain annonymous, it gives you more nerve than usual to say things you shouldn't. If someone doesn't want to admit who they are then they obviously should just keep their mouth shut in the first place.
