Fully Loaded Teas (Enter to Win)

by julie on January 15, 2010

I get lots of PR pitches, and accept very few.  I’ve got two more that you’ll see in the next couple of weeks– all revolving around food and drink, but not restaurant-oriented– so stay tuned.

The first ptich was from Fully Loaded Teas, which just became available at biggs and Jungle Jim’s here in town.  Their PR person, Zoe, sent me a pack of teas for me (and a coworker) to try.  Their pitch: lots of ingredients and lots of flavor (and it’s good for you).  I like to sip tea instead of coffee during the day– too much coffee makes me jittery, but I also want something low calorie to sip.  I tend towards fruit or spice teas (I love TeaVana’s Rooibos Chai, for example), so I tried some of the fruity flavors and some of the spicy flavors.  Plus, it’s wintertime– which  really makes me want more tea!  Perfect timing.

The company is owned by a couple of women who added fruit to their tea for vitamins.  So, the teabags are filled with fruit– big chunks of it!– which was not quite what I expected.  This doesn’t make the teas super-fruity either, which was good for me.  They’re pyramid tea bags, not paper, so you get a lot more flavor from your tea, without the inconvenience of a tea ball.  I tend towards loose teas, but it was nice to just pop a couple of teabags in my bag without worrying about the TSA thinking I was smuggling illegal substances.

Of the ones I tried, my favorite was the Citrus Spiked Black tea.  I love black tea, I love citrus, I love spice– it was very well balanced.  I also liked the Shameless Berries– fruity and, according to their marketing materials, “full of antioxidants”.  My coworker Courtney tried the Bulletproof Currant, and really liked it with a bit of sweetener.  I don’t drink tea just for health reasons, but if you do, you might be interested in this whole berry phenomenon.

Would you like to try these teas too?  Leave a comment here and tell me what your favorite cold weather beverage is, and I’ll pick one commenter at random to win a gift pack from Fully Loaded Teas.  If you want an extra chance to win, tweet about the contest and comment again, and you’ll have an extra entry.  Enjoy!

In warm weather I tend to drink water with some sort of citrus slice in it, or orange soda. Or I just drink hot tea–I don’t really care about weather-appropriateness. (That and I just don’t like iced tea, unless it’s the stuff they serve at the Thai restaurant with spices and cream)

I’m a hot chocolate person during the winter, but I’m a tea drinker as well (never coffee, for caffeine and taste reasons!). I’d love to try them!

My favorite cold-weather beverage? Tea! (Although hot apple cider eclipses it in fall.)

I generally just drink water throughout the day. But, my office has been freezing, and occasionally I need a little caffeine, so I’ve been drinking hot tea as of lately. I really enjoy spiced teas as well, especially anything with chai. And if I want something warm to drink without the caffeine, my favorite so far is Stash’s decaf vanilla chai. These teas sound great!

When I was living in the Netherlands, I fell in love with Pickwick fruit teas. My favorite was sinasappel (orange) and I tried for years to find it here. No luck until I moved to Cincinnati and discovered the joy that is Jungle Jim’s. I’m a happy Pickwick tea drinker again!

Tea, tea, tea — all day long. Current favorite is Lipton’s Bavarian Berry, but if there’s a tea leaf in it, I’ll drink it. In London last spring, my one must-do was to visit Twining’s shop (where it’s been for about 200 years) and buy tea. There was also a stop at Fortnum and Mason, where I nbought strawberry tea — still untouched, being saved for a special occasion.

My drinking habits don’t change much by season. However, I’m more likely to have an mid-afternoon cup of coffee (instead of water). I also will do a cup of Earl Grey tea.

Yes, I tried it for the first time because of Captain Picard. I continue to drink it because I like it.

No, that doesn’t make me a geek.

Yes, I am a geek anyway.

Right now I like Tazo organic chai with a splash of soymilk. I also like to combine orange juice and cranberry juice year round, but especially in the colder months.

I love tea, never met a pack of tea I didnt like. Drink it all year around, Thanks for the heads up on this brand, I would love to try it. My favorite winter drink is hot choc & yep, you guessed it… TEA!

  • Corrine

Nothing beats a chai flavored tea (I do mine without the dairy or soy) – I only really drink it in the winter though…

Ooh, my favorite cold weather beverage is hot tea! Plain black or green is fine, but I love flavored, funky teas too. :)

Ever since I tried ‘caramel’ tea as a student in Russia, I’ve been a big fan of rooibos and honeybush teas. I drink 2-3 cups a day. No sweetener, no milk – it’s very mild and sweet by itself!
I also like Christmas tea, which is just black tea with clove, cinnamon, orange, etc. I take that with a little milk and a sugar cube though. And of course, I make a mean hot chocolate. My secret is adding a little vanilla extract. ;)

I love tea and have been trying to convince others to drink more of it too. When in Germany I loved going to tea shops to select loose-leaf teas which I keep in neat tins. I have a beautiful glass teapot which sits over a candle and keeps it warm, and it is beautiful to see the amber glow. I love all teas, but tend to buy the white / green / black / herbal types the most. Yes, in a tea bag like this, the flavors can unfold, and the leaves aren’t crushed to dust as in the supermarket teabag varieties. Loose-leaf teas are such better quality, and less packaging/waste. My dream is to one day open a tea shop.

I’ll have flavored coffee in the morning. It also has to have sweetener and creamer. In the winter, I like some herbal or chai tea in the afternoon. For tea fans, there’s a great little tea shop in Oakley called Essencha. I’ll also send out a tweet for this. I’m MsRed513 on Twitter.

My favorite cold-weather beverage is PG Tips (black tea from the UK) with demarara or turbinado sugar and milk in the a.m., and at night, I am currently drinking Republic of Tea’s Asian Jasmine White Tea with honey. Yum!

  • Addie Johnson

Please enter me into the contest, since I love hot teas in the winter. I also like hot buttered rum when it is very cold, as it was the last couple of weeks.

TEA ME! My favorite is chai tea. The spicy teas rock my world. And since I work at an all male parochial high school – I need all the energy boost I can get!

My husband’s homemade hot cocoa is my fave cold-weather drink. Dutch-processed cocoa, milk and sugar. Simple and delicious.

  • Danielle

Any type of hot tea. Usually green or white with a fruit flavor and 1 pack of Splenda for added sweetness.

  • Laura

Coffee (black) in the morning, and then tea (usually sweetened, and often with milk.) I have a whole shelf of tea, but the latest love is the Republic of Tea’s Mango Ceylon.

  • CincyTee

It’s hard to pick a single beverage by quantity, but what I most look forward to at the moment is the ginger pear tea available from Bonbonerie.

Hot tea is my favorite drink any time of the year, even in summer. I’m always searching for unique flavors! I especially love Harney & Sons, Hot Cinnamon Sunset…spicy and warming. Add a little vanilla soymilk and it’s the perfect beverage any hour of the day.

  • Shannon

I love me some Earl Grey, unsweetened, black. It’s a good way to get me going in the mornings that I just want to stay home and stay in bed.
