I prefer Walt’s Hitching Post in Ft. Wright. Best sauce that I’ve ever tasted. I go there and buy it by the quart and use it on the grill all summer long.

We’ve been to Walt’s a few times, enjoyed, and meaning to go back (funny how that happens, right?). Justin had the ribs and me the pork. Our assessment was pretty much the same as yours (ribs great, pork just okay).

The atmosphere is pretty spot-on though. I did really like their Saratoga chips too, so that might be something to try next time around. Oh, and I was jealous of their endless supply of Trivial Pursuit cards. What a low cost, great idea! Entertains and distracts patrons from the wait for food.

Good review. I just tried KT’s BBQ in Reading (at the intersection of Reading & Galbraith). Good stuff IMHO.

I agree about Walt’s ribs. Pit to Plate is my favorite BBQ place but the ribs at Walt’s are amazing…probably better than Pit to Plate. However, the rest of the BBQ at Pit to Plate (especially the pulled pork) beats Walt’s every time.

Right– and I’m just not much of a Texas barbecue fan. I find that most places in this area do one thing right– several places that have good sides have terrible barbecue; places that have good pork usually have terrible brisket, and vice-versa.

I take it you’re a Texas barbecue fan?

That credo holds true everywhere except for Texas, where brisket rules the BBQ spectrum. I make my own pulled pork and BBQ sauce since I can’t find anything I like in Cincinnati, but BBQ Revue’s brisket gets my out of the kitchen.
