Romy Jung leaving Aroma, Travis Maier to take helm

by julie on May 3, 2010

Just got a note from Chef Jung– he had his last service at Aroma on Saturday, and will be heading to Paris to cook with one of the top chefs in France. More information when I get it–though in the email, he promises to return to Cincinnati and said the opportunity in France was “amazing”.

Just in– Travis Maier, formerly of Seny and most recently at Barcelona in Columbus, will be taking over.

    Romy Jung leaving Aroma.

And that aroma was a strong smell of whiskey on his breath.

It’s been entertaining to watch the commentary on Yelp about this restaurant (which I’ve never visited). In fact, the number of bogus-sounding reviews (many from contributors who had reviewed not one other restaurant) finally got so over the top that someone started a discussion thread about them. After everything I’d read there, I’m not surprised by this news.

I’m glad to hear Travis Maier will be back in the area. His style is inventive and unique. Can’t wait to see him put his spin on the restaurant!
