Do Downtown Restaurant Week 2014

It’s Do Downtown Cincinnati Restaurant week — the week each year that Downtown Cincinnati restaurants get to show off their chops and attract a clientele that wants to experiment, try new restaurants, and save a few bucks.

In these articles for WCPO, I go into a little bit of detail on my picks — whether it’s where to get the best bang for your $35 (hint: hit up the hotel restaurants run by some of the top chefs in the city, like Metropole, Orchids and The Palace) and some of the restaurants I *wish* were on the Do Downtown Restaurant Week list, but aren’t (think: OTR restaurants that are really too small to do it, like Salazar and Abigail Street).

I am traveling this week, but I was able to go to Nicola’s for their Restaurant Week menu on Monday.  It was difficult to choose dishes, but I tried their beet salad, pork tenderloin and lemon panna cotta.  All were excellent choices, and none of my dinner companions had any complaints about their choices, and between the four of us, we tried everything.

This is a fun week for dining downtown — be sure to secure your reservations quickly, though.  Orchids is already booked through next Tuesday, for example, and other restaurants may be in the same boat.

What are your restaurant week picks? Let me know!
