March 11, 2010

Right now, the Taft Museum is featuring the  Dutch Masters– you know, like Rembrandt– and folks you might not be as familiar with in an exhibit called Dutch Utopia.  They’ve been doing some events for the YP community– and they asked me to “host” an event.  I’ll be presenting some chocolate history and wine [...]

Closed (uh, sort of): Courtyard Cafe

March 8, 2010

Courtyard Cafe, which has long been the only restaurant on Main Street in Over-the-Rhine (Iris Book Cafe serves food, but its focus is beverages), will remain open for the near future for only one day per month. It was, as [...]

February 25, 2010

Thanks to a Mt. Adams Reader for allowing me to borrow their copy of Cincinnati Magazine– I don’t get many magazines because my old mail carrier liked to rip mine to shreds before they arrived in my mailbox. Mental note: subscribe to magazines again.
Last years’ list, for reference.
2008’s, too.
1. Orchids
2. Boca
3. Daveed’s
4. Nicola’s
5. The [...]

Arnold’s New Lunch Menu

February 24, 2010

Looks like Arnold’s is redoing their lunch menu– at one point, they had a 3.95 lunch menu, and weren’t putting out a product they liked. This time, they’re doing a 4.99 lunch menu, and Ronda Androski promises that it will change seasonally. A sampling:

Spaghetti and meatballs
Irish stew
Burritos
Tacos
Burgers

Burgers come with fries– in all a [...]

February 24, 2010

The Business Courier is reporting that Javier’s, on Walnut Street, is closing on Friday, February 26. They opened for dinner a couple of years ago, but aside from a handful of times, I never actually saw them open for dinner– which would be the only chance I’d have to try them. The one [...]
